Temporary Visa for Graduates

Skilled – Graduate (Temporary) visa (subclass 485)

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship of Australia has recently introduced a new subclass of visa for overseas students who are interested in the Skilled Migration Program. The subclass is named Skilled – Graduate (Temporary) visa (subclass 485). It allows the applicants who do not meet the criteria for a permanent General Skilled Migration visa under these classes:

This visa allows the applicant to travel, work, or study for 18 months in order to meet the criteria of the above General Skilled Migration subclasses and apply for them as soon as they are met. MASCA ACT would like to convey our condolences to family and friend of Mohd Faizal Ahmad Kamil, a 20 year old Malaysian student at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand after what is believed an asthma attack.

Mohd Faizal was found unconscious in his room by students at about 7pm local time on 20/2/2008.
